New Diabetic Retinopathy Research Announced

University College London has announced that it is to partner with AstraZeneca in order to develop regenerative treatments for the progressive eye disease diabetic retinopathy, which affects people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and is thought to be the most common cause of vision loss in people of working age.

A condition that generally affects older diabetics, diabetic retinopathy, has been found to have worryingly doubled in the amount of cases in the past eight years, but also appears to be appearing increasingly in younger patients.
