Freedom Meditech Provide Hope at Conference
Following the sixth annual conference in London for the Diabetes and Diabetic Retinopathy Conference it appears that Freedom Meditech’s speech is the one that caught many people’s eyes. The group offer the non-invasive products for monitoring blood glucose levels through the eyes; something which has recently been featured in the news. The company’s hope is that the monitor will help to give an earlier prognosis of diabetes which could help reduce the risk of the sufferer developing side-effects such as diabetic retinopathy.
The conference as a whole has been set up as a force against the ever-growing epidemic of diabetes with 400 million people worldwide though to have been suffering from it. Not only that but many of these people will be suffering the side effect of diabetic retinopathy which can severely impair vision and lead to blindness. Therefore, Freedom Meditech hope that their new device provides an easier, safer way of assessing blood glucose levels in patients and will help practitioners come to quicker and more efficient decisions when diagnosing the disease. Not only that, but their products which are now under development are hoped to become useful for diabetes suffers in the monitoring of their own blood glucose levels.
Freedom Meditech’s glucose monitoring equipment looks set to tap into a market worth $10 million with the diabetes screening equipment taking on a $2 million market. However, with diabetes costing $120 million in America alone, these devices could reduce these costs by leading to an earlier diagnoses which can then be treated quicker using less resources before being monitored by the company’s equipment disabling the disease from developing any quicker and forming diabetic retinopathy.
