Symptoms of Pterygium

Pterygium are generally unproblematic.  However, you may feel that there is a foreign body in your eye.  Refractive errors such as astigmatism may be caused by pterygium as they can grow over the cornea.

If you think you have a pterygium, call your optician to book an eye test.  A slit lamp can usually detect the presence of Pterygium.  This microscope magnifies the structures of the eye and has a light on it so that the eye can be thoroughly examined.
