Types of Lens Implants
There are three main types of new lens implants:
Bifocal Phakic Lens Implant
This type of lens will improve both near and distant vision but at the compromise of clarity. If you want to permanently stop wearing glasses or contact lenses, you may choose this type of lens but you will be phakic. This means that you will still have you natural lens and a new lens is simply added to the eye.
Artisan (Ophtec) Iris-Fixated ICL
This type of lens is used to correct astigmatism, hyperopia and extreme myopia. It is made of PMMA, which is an inert material and has a vaulted design.
Posterior Chamber Phakic ICL
This type of lens implant is placed behind the iris, in front of the natural lens.
