Suitability for Lens Implants
Implantable contact lenses are not suitable for everyone. If you are considering this treatment option to improve your vision you must meet the following criteria:
- Age - This type of surgery is recommended for 21-45 year olds. Eyes in this middle age group are still elastic and can see at close distances. The implant lens will eliminate the dependency on glasses or contact lenses to see at distance while the eyes natural lens can be used to see things close up.
- Myopia - The surgery is particularly effective if you have moderate to severe nearsightedness.
- Eye Health - You must not have a history of ophthalmic surgery or history of eye diseases including; diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma or cataract.
- Thin Cornea - If your cornea is thin, implantable lenses may be more suitable than LASIK laser eye surgery.
