Treatment for Myopia


Glasses and contact lenses refract the light before they enter the eye and therefore enhance focus by counteracting the refractive error, myopia.  Contact lenses are usually more expensive than glasses and can initially be quite difficult to use.  Glasses are usually recommended for children and they are also easier to use by older people. 

There are a number of procedures for stabilising myopia, but treatment only addresses the symptoms and no cure is available.  Your optometrist may discuss your options.  Alternatively, you may wish to contact your local eye clinic.
