Risk of Eye Problems with Myopia

Myopia can become increasingly worse through teenage years as the body is growing quite rapidly but it tends to stabilise when the growth process has been completed.  When myopia worsens quite dramatically in adulthood, it is known as myopic creep.

If you have myopia, you may be at a higher risk of suffering from glaucoma.  There is also a low risk of sight loss because the deformation of the eye creates stress on the retina.  The retina can then become damaged or detached.  Detached retina can therefore be a symptom of myopia and is more likely in cases of high myopia.
