Eye Test for Myopia
If you are straining to see things that are at a distance, you should have your eyes examined by an optometrist at an optician’s surgery. You may also be experiencing headaches or you might squint and feel tired when driving or playing particular sports. Regular eye tests will not only help diagnose vision problems but can also show signs of other eye conditions and general health issues such as diabetes or high blood pressure. To recognise short sightedness in children, look out for frowning and squinting. You may notice that a myopic child has trouble seeing the television.
The College of Optometrists recommends eye tests every two years. This varies with age and whether you have other eye conditions or illnesses that affect vision. Your optometrist or GP should be consulted on how often you should have your eyes tested. Your optician may diagnose myopia by using a Snellen chart.
