Causes of Myopia


Some experts believe that myopia is inherited.  It is certainly more likely to occur if there is a family history of it.  Myopia is often recognised in childhood.  It is caused by the cornea being too steeply curved or the eye being longer than normal and therefore the eye does not bend light correctly which results in blurred distant images.
