Myopia Gene Identified

Scientists have uncovered a new gene linked to the development of myopia or nearsightedness, according to a new report published today in the online journal Nature Genetics. Myopia is thought to affect up to one in every three people. Eye care experts hope that identifying the gene may help to develop successful gene therapies that may help to remedy the eye condition in future.
