Presbyopia & Laser Eye Surgery
Presbyopia is a refractive error, which cannot be corrected using laser eye surgery. It is an age related condition, involving the eye lens loosing its flexibility and therefore being unable to focus from distance to near vision. With age most people require reading glasses to compensate for the lost range of focus. Although laser treatment cannot correct presbyopia it can be compensated for, by focusing one eye for distance vision and the other eye for near vision. This gives blended or mono-vision. It is not possible for older people to have good near and distant vision in the same eye without glasses or contact lenses.
If you have presbyopia and require reading glasses, contact your local laser eye surgery clinic to find out what options they have for you. Visit the Find page, to locate a clinic.
