INTACS Surgery Procedure

The procedure for placing INTACS to improve nearsightedness is generally performed on an outpatient basis.  Anaesthetic drops are placed in the eye, to reduce discomfort.  The procedure itself takes less than half an hour.  The surgeon will begin by making a tiny opening, less than 2mm, near the upper edge of the cornea beneath the eyelid.  The INTAC is then inserted through this opening so that it rests between the layers of tissue in the cornea.

It is quite a simple surgery and most people resume normal activity within two or three days.
