How to get Health Insurance
There is a lot of support available to help you select the right insurance company and level of cover for you and/or your family. Many people contact insurance companies them. The insurer will go through a series of questions including details of current and past health. The insurer may write to your GP/doctor for more information. Cost of insurance cover will be discussed and you may be given a quote that meets your needs and budget. The details may then be posted out for your perusal. Some companies and under some circumstances, a health advisor from the insurance company may arrange to meet with you to discuss the finer details. Alternatively, you may wish to seek the advice of an independent health advisor or online broker, who will put you in touch with the right people. Insurance agents, such as your bank may also be able to guide you.
Once all of the relevant documentation has been completed and bank details have been confirmed, you will be given a certification of membership with the insurance company. Cover may be instant, even before the forms have been filled. If you change your mind, you will normally be able to cancel everything at no cost within 14 days.
