Prescription Sports Sunglasses, Goggles & Masks
Its important to always protect your eyes and see clearly, particularly when playing certain sports. There are a range of sports glasses available, each with different prescription lens types available to suit your sporting needs. Ranging from coloured polarised lenses to photochromic lenses which change colour in sunlight and others made to suit your eyesight.
Colour Polarised Lenses for Sports Sunglasses
Brown lenses are the best tint available, since the high contrast lens provides the best vision in a wide range of light. The lenses filter the horizontal glare from water, which is perfect for sports including fishing and sailing. Yellow lenses are ultrahigh contrast and are suitable for low light conditions such as at dusk. Orange lenses are perfect for shooting as they help to pick out the orange clays in the background. Grey lenses are designed for bright lighting and green lenses are for general purpose use including playing tennis.
Polarised lenses are all available in bifocal, varifocal, single vision and non-prescription ranges.
Photochromic Lenses for Sporting Glasses
Photochomic lenses are made with a scratch resistant and anti-reflective coat and change colour when exposed to changes in light levels. They are clear in low lighting conditions but then darken in sunlight. These lenses are effectively used in sports such as cycling and bowling and are also useful indoors. The lenses use transitions ® optical technology and are available in bifocal, varifocal, single vision and non-prescription options.
Ultra 2000 Lenses
Advances in variable tint technology are responsible for the Ultra 2000 lens which is made up of two lenses rather than one, combining outstanding light enhancing properties and phenomenal horizontal polarization to give fantastic visibility in low and bright light conditions. When exposed to low lighting levels the lens has an olive green tint whilst taking a dark brown colour when light gets brighter. The Ultra 2000 lens has 100 percent protection from harmful UV rays as well as impressive impact resistance and is scratch resistant and water repellent.
Ultra 2000 Lenses for Drivers
An alternative Ultra 2000 lens is available for drivers. Made up of three lenses compared to two, these greatly benefit driving in all conditions. In low light conditions the lenses are green or yellow and provide a high transmission of light to improve your sight and with their polarized film remove any glare in your eyes. In bright conditions the lenses darken to a brown colour filtering any excess light, giving you maximum comfort.
These lenses differ from other driving lenses, as they change colour behind the windscreen when exposed to changing levels of light, protecting your eyes from the bright light and glare but still allowing you to recognise traffic light signals and drive safely.
Other Types of Lenses for Sports Glasses
Mirror finish lenses not only look stylish but are also made from polycarbonate, which is almost unbreakable. The mirror lenses are high definition although the range is only available in single vision option.
The ‘Extreme lens,’ which mixes amazing light enhancing properties with phenomenal horizontal polarization is designed to help improve your vision if the use of tinted lenses is not working efficiently. The lenses are put together to improve your visibility in light at very low levels. This type of lens is perfect for dawn and dusk fishing although these lenses are only available for non-prescription and single vision lenses.
Plain lenses with an anti-mist and anti-scratch coating are also available in varifocal, bifocal, single vision and non-prescription ranges.
Prescription Goggles and Diving Masks
Your vision underwater can also be improved with various goggles and masks. Goggles can be made to match your visionary needs, with lenses matching your prescription.
Clear lenses are available for goggles and masks with an anti-mist and scratch resistant coating to give you the best possible view underwater. Goggles and masks are available in varifocal, single vision and non-prescription options.
Some masks can also be made to meet your eyesight prescription whilst others allow you to wear contact lenses whilst wearing the mask. There are some ranges that can also maximise your vision by five times, to give you the ultimate underwater experience.
