New Treatment for Intraocular Pressure
A new drug has been released that could successfully alleviate intraocular pressure in the eyes that often precedes serious and potentially blinding eye conditions including glaucoma. Neptazane tablets will be used, orally, to treat the condition as an alternative to eye drops.
Intraocular pressure is though to affect between 2 and 8% of people - and particularly occurs in elderly people who are already vulnerable to a range of eye diseases including age-related macular degeneration.
Fera Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturers of Neptazane, hope that the drug can be used to help high-risk patients to control high pressure levels and to safeguard their vision.
