New Anti-Infection Eye Drugs Developed
A new anti-infection eye-care solution has been developed as researchers warn that certain strains of eye infections including conjunctivitis are becoming more resistant to treatment. Allergan, manufacturers of Zymaxid - the highest concentration ophthalmic solution currently available in America - claim that pathogens are becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotics and it is becoming more and more necessary to develop stronger medication to counter infections.
Allergan's new solution Zymaxid is thought to have removed up to 20% more harmful eye problem causing bacteria than other medication in recent clinical trials. Researchers studied the well being of 1,437 patients given the treatment and determined that those who had used the new solution were more than 13% more likely to see their symptoms clear in a shorter time-span.
