Laser Pen Eye Burn
Medical experts warn that pointing laser pens at your eye could cause serious ocular damage after a youth sustained severe eye injuries after accidentally shining a laser light into his eye. The British Medical Journal has revealed details of the unusual case in the hope that people will go on to use the items with greater care.
Following the accident, the youngster suffered retinal burns that reduced the clarity of his vision by half - a condition that may never recover. He also suffered ‘dark spots’ or central scotomas across his field of vision which may never fully fade despite extensive treatment.
Eye experts warn that whilst using the lasers may not cause immediate damage to the eyes, serious ill-effects could manifest in later years.
