Green Tea Could Boost Eye Health
New research suggests that drinking green tea can boost eye health in elderly people. Scientists in Hong Kong believe that green tea is rich in beneficial anti-oxidants that are absorbed into the eye tissue as part of the body's digestive process.
Drinking green tea is thought to ward off serious health conditions including cancer, dementia and more. However, eye care experts now believe that elderly people who regularly drink the tea could benefit from having healthier eye tissue, retinas and lenses.
Researchers hope that further studies could lead to the tea being used to halt the progression of debilitating age related eye disorders including macular degeneration - the leading cause of blindness in elderly people worldwide.
