The Singapore Eye Bank and National Eye Centre has announced that it will partner with Seattle's SightLife eye bank in a bid to increase the availaibiility of corneal transplant tissue that is desperately needed to meet the increasing global demand for vision restoring corneal transplants.
Outlining shared goals both organisations have disclosed that they will work together in order to recover enough tissue to meet the local demand, in Asia, for corneal transplants by growing the Association of Eye Banks of Asia and by establishing an Eye Bank in Sri Lanka,
Over 10 million people across the world are thought to be in need of corneal transplants, with an ever growing number of cases reported in Asia.
