Coloured Contact Lenses

Contact lenses can come in many colours so that the eyes look different to their natural colour.  Some people choose lenses, which enhance their natural eye colour and others opt for a completely different colour.  There are various types of fashion contact lenses. Lenses can have special effects on them to change the whole eye appearance to make eyes look abnormal.  These may be used in theatre. UV Light Inhibiting Contact Lenses

Lenses can be designed to reduce the amount UV light entering the eye.  UV light can harm the eye in many ways, including increasing the risk of cataracts.  However, UV light can still enter the eye from the sides as a contact lens only covers the front of the eye.  Therefore, sunglasses should still be worn, to protect eyes properly.
