Extended Wear Contact Lenses
Extended wear contact lenses can be placed in the eye and left in, for up to one week. They are not removed when sleeping and are designed in such a way that eyes are still kept healthy. Many eye care professionals do not recommend such lenses and argue that there is still a reduction in oxygen allowed in the eye, despite manufacturers claims. They also argue that the risk of infection is high, because of the build up of microorganisms on the lens surface.
