Suitability for Conductive Keratoplasty (CK)


  • If you are over the age of 40 years.
  • If you have had good vision throughout your life.
  • If you require reading glasses to compensate for problems with you near vision. 
  • If you have had laser eye surgery, you may still have CK but at least 6-9 months between the laser correction and CK are advisable. 
  • Vision must be stable and there must not have been a reasonable change in your distance prescription within the last 2 years.
  • You must not be insulin dependent or diabetic.
  • You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have a pacemaker, you cannot have CK as at interferes with the procedure.
  • CK is not used to treat short sightedness (myopia)
  • Your general health must be good.
  • You must not have a history of eye infections including severe dryness, corneal dystrophy, glaucoma and kerataconus.
