Suitability for Conductive Keratoplasty (CK)
- If you are over the age of 40 years.
- If you have had good vision throughout your life.
- If you require reading glasses to compensate for problems with you near vision.
- If you have had laser eye surgery, you may still have CK but at least 6-9 months between the laser correction and CK are advisable.
- Vision must be stable and there must not have been a reasonable change in your distance prescription within the last 2 years.
- You must not be insulin dependent or diabetic.
- You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you have a pacemaker, you cannot have CK as at interferes with the procedure.
- CK is not used to treat short sightedness (myopia)
- Your general health must be good.
- You must not have a history of eye infections including severe dryness, corneal dystrophy, glaucoma and kerataconus.
