Conductive Keratoplasty Aftercare & Side Effects

  • Glare & Halos - These may occur for up to one month.
  • Over Correction - This may last for a few weeks.
  • Dry Eyes - You may experience dry eyes for the first few days following treatment.
  • Vision - Initially you may experience a mild fluctuation in your vision after the procedure.  Although recovery is fairly quick, it is advisable to be careful with eyes and to avoid straining them in the early days.
  • Light Sensitivity - If increased sensitivity to bright light is experienced, sunglasses are advisable.
  • Discomfort - CK surgery is considered relatively painless.  You may be aware of the speculum, which helps to hold your eye open and the feeling of pressure on the eye during the procedure.  Following surgery some mild discomfort may be experienced and you may experience a foreign-object sensation or scratchy feeling in your eye for up to 48 hours.
  • Eye Care - Avoid getting contaminated water in to your eyes for at least one week, including water from swimming pools and avoid getting soap into eyes for at least one week.  Avoid exercise for at least one week after surgery so that sweat does not drip into the eye.  Do not rub eyes vigorously for two weeks following the procedure and do not use eye makeup for one week after the procedure.
