Vision after Cataract Surgery

Vision after Cataract SurgeryCataract surgery involves removing the clouded lens from the eye and replacing it with a clear lens.  This artificial lens is very durable and is placed permanently in the eye and should last for the rest of your life.  Vision following surgery, is vastly improved because the eye now has a perfect new lens.  Sometimes the lens capsule that holds the lens can become cloudy and look like a cataract.  It is not a cataract and can be treated easily and efficiently with a laser.  This procedure is known as Posterior Capsular Opacification.  Although vision is improved following cataract surgery, it does not eliminate the need for glasses.  If you have any refractive conditions for example if you are short sighted or long sighted, you will still require contact lenses or glasses but your prescription may be unstable for a short while following cataract removal.
