Helping a Blind Person Indoors

When guiding a blind person indoors, it is good to describe the basic layout of the room if he/she has never been in it. Tell the person about obstacles like coffee tables, couches, chairs, etc. When guiding the person to a seat, bring his/her hand to the back of the chair or to the armrest and ensure his/her knees are lined up with the seat. Tell the person what kind of chair or couch it is so it’s not a surprise it if it starts rocking!
