Blind Runner Completes Marathon Challenge

A blind man is set to make history by completing ten marathons in just ten days and cycling tandem to John O'Groats. Dave Heeley, 52, from West Bromwich who lost his sight to the progressively blinding eye disease retinitis pigmentosa, plans to raise over £100,000 for cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Support through the act of endurance.

Speaking of his efforts which have included cycling tandem in seven countries in just seven days, Mr Heeley explains that his vision loss has caused some unique logistical problems in the planning of his fund raising expedition.

The father of three also works as a motivational speaker and is credited with helping hundreds of people to overcome problems and emotional upset that they have encountered as a result of losing their vision.
