Under Correction
Under correction is a term used in eye surgery when the performed procedure doesn’t correct the vision as well as would have been hoped. This leads to the vision of the individual not being restored back to normal and the use of corrective eyewear is still required.
Under and over correction occur rarely in the LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) corrective surgery procedure. It often happens due to too little tissue being removed from the front of the eye (the cornea) during laser remodeling. This is often attributed to the differences in corneal tissue from patient to patient, such as variation in thickness and hydration. The patient is left with better vision than before the procedure, but still worse that normal 6/6 vision.
