PRK Eye

Photorefractive Keratectomy is a laser eye surgery procedure where the epithelium of the eye is scraped away and then an excimer laser is used to remove corneal tissue in order to improve vision.  The epithelium then completely replaces itself within a few days.  A corneal flap is not cut before the laser treatment is performed as with the LASIK eye surgery procedure, therefore the cornea's structural integrity is less altered with PRK laser eye surgery than with LASIK laser eye surgery procedure.
