Nasal Hinge

The techniques used in LASIK laser eye surgery have greatly changed. In the early days, a hinge was not made on the corneal surface to make a corneal flap, but a “button” of tissue was cut and taken out of the cornea. The laser was then applied to improve refractive errors and the “button” was then replaced. This technique is no longer used and instead a hinged flap is made. This is a safer procedure with less risks involved and better recovery.
