LASIK FLAP

LASIK is a laser eye surgery procedure in which, a piece of corneal tissue is cut from the rest of the cornea but a ‘hinge’ is left attached to the cornea. This is known as a LASIK flap. Traditionally, the flap has been cut with a microkeratome, which is hand held blade. More advanced techniques include using a femtosecond laser.

Once a LASIK flap has been cut, a laser is used to change the shape of the cornea.
