Implantable Contact Lens

Implantable Contact Lens or ICL’s are the trade name for the STAAR Myopic ICL’s. They can be surgically placed in the eye for the correction of high refractive errors. They are placed behind the iris in the posterior chamber of the phakic eye.

ICL’s are similar IOL’s used in cataract surgery. The main difference is that they are designed with forward vault to minimize contact with the central anterior capsule of the eyes natural lens. ICL’s are made of Collamer, which is an established material for such eye lenses.
