Hemeralopia

This is the term used to describe day blindness in dogs. It is the opposite of Nyctalopia which, is night blindness. Hemeralopia can lead to partial blindness as bright light causes vision to become blurred due to problems with the photopic visual system. It is believed to be a hereditary condition caused by the degeneration of the cone receptors at the back of the eye.
