Glaucoma

Increased eye pressure, essentially due to excessive fluid build up, which can lead to the loss of sight including complete blindness. Fluid can build up in the eye if the drainage system has become blocked. Glaucoma usually occurs in middle age and can be hereditary. Glaucoma can go unnoticed for long periods of time and can damage sight without any noticeable symptoms.
