Flap

In laser eye surgery, the flap refers to the thin layer of the cornea, which is cut either by a blade or laser. The flap is not removed and a small hinge is left so that it can be replaced after the laser procedure has been competed. This procedure is known as LASIK and complications include, the flap being completely removed and a buttonhole flap etc.
