Contact Lense

Spelled "Contact Lens," these are round thin plastic lenses, similar to the eyes natural lens, which are placed onto the front of the eye to correct vision. They can be replaced daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly or quarterly. Other lenses are only worn once and are then disposed of, these are termed ‘contact lens daily wear.’ Therapeutic contact lenses are designed to help a healing eye. A bandage contact lens may be placed by an eye surgeon after laser eye surgery. This is to protect the cornea and must be removed by the eye surgeon. Toric contact lenses are used to correct astigmatism. If contact lenses are damaged or are not inline with users prescription, vision can appear blurry. If eyes feel like they are burning, contact an eye care professional. Problems with contact lenses can be sight threatening. Problems include protein build-up, debris on the lens and an infection. Symptoms include frequent blinking, discharge, eye itching, sensitivity to light, eye discomfort, a red or pink eye or eyelid, eyelid swelling and it can feel like there is a foreign body in the eye.
