Anisometropia

A condition where two eyes have unequal refractive power.  For example, one eye may be nearsighted and the other eye may be farsighted.  The condition can lead to amblyopia in childhood.  When anisometropia is severe, the brain struggles to reconcile the different information coming from the eyes and can decide to stop using the information from one of the eyes.
