Amsler Recording Chart


A grid pattered chart used in optometry to assess the macula. The subjective perception of a series of lines and grids on the chart, are used to help indicate whether there is any presence of macular degeneration. It is a very easy method of testing vision and can be done at home. There is usually a clear dot in the centre of the grid and whilst looking at the centre, you should be able see all the lines on the grid and perfectly straight squares. If any lines are missing or distorted, medical advice must be sought.
