Symptoms of Astigmatism
The refractive error known as astigmatism occurs when the cornea is not its optimum perfectly round shape but instead it is oval, akin to a rugby ball and/or it may also be due to an abnormal shape of the lens of the eye. Not all astigmatism is problematic, but may be if you suffer from any of the following symptoms:
- You may be short sighted or long-sighted and suffer from blurred vision for distant and near objects.
- You may suffer from squinting and double vision.
- You may suffer from tired or uncomfortable eyes.
- You may experience frequent headaches or migraines.
- Astigmatism can be difficult to identify in children. Parents may notice that their child is finding it difficult to do his/her schoolwork.
