Guarantees to Medical Tourism

Whether you are having eye treatment in the UK or deciding to be treated abroad, there are no guarantees regarding the results of the procedure.  If there are complications or undesired results, you may need to be re-treated or undergo corrective procedures.  Many eye surgeons will include the cost of this, in the initial treatment fee, but you must make sure that this is the case and to what extent further care is included.  Legal protection varies between countries and you may wish to find out what protection you have as a foreigner and what the protection laws are.

Medical Health Insurance

If you have health insurance, ask your insurer what you are covered for.  Although your insurance probably will not cover medical tourism, it may cover you if there are any injuries or unforeseen circumstances.  If you are having treatment, which is not available in the UK, it is likely that your insurance company would not cover you if anything goes wrong.  Check what you are and are not covered for.  You may even be able to find some international medical coverage with an insurance company to cover you for medical tourism.
