Consenting to Eye Surgery Abroad

If you are travelling abroad for medical treatment, your treatment details should be outlined in a written contract or/and signed consent form.  This is for the benefit of you and the clinic.  Included within this agreement there should be the treatment charge and refund policy.  You may arrive at the clinic and your expectations may not be met.  You may feel anxious about the treatment as time approaches and change your mind.  Other problems may pose a concern such as symptom progression/changes.  Find out what costs you will incur if you decide not to go ahead with the treatment.

Ensure that your contract details, who bears liability in case the procedure goes wrong.  Find out how compensation works and how much you may be entitled to.  The laws of the country will determine what options you have and who you can contact for advice in case you need to raise a lawsuit against a clinic or individual.  You may want somebody to check the legal contract for you.
